Bio
Bill McDaniel is a 1972 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy and holds a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
He served as an Infantry officer in the U.S. Army for over twenty years. Selected to numerous command, operations and training development assignments Bill retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He spent the majority of his military career in leadership assignments commanding at the company and field grade levels. Bill also held a highly sought after leadership assignment at West Point as a Tactical Officer where he was responsible for the leadership, academic, physical, moral and social development of a company of 120 cadets.
Following his duty as a "Tac", he was asked to stay on and teach the core course in Leadership as an Assistant Professor of the Behavioral Science and Leadership Department. His final active duty assignments included leading a team of highly selected officers to deliver training for the Infantry Officers' Advanced Course, and as the Chief of the Training Division where he and his three development groups designed and delivered individual, team and simulation training products throughout the U.S. Army.
In the private sector Bill has eighteen years of experience as an executive leader in the high tech, manufacturing, transportation, and engineering industries. He has been the leader of human resources and senior management team member at large, global corporations and midsized companies. He has led change management during mergers, acquisitions, rapid growth, right sizing, and successful emergence from Chapter 11. His experience includes Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources for Acterna (now Viavi Solutions), a global leader in telecommunications test and measurement instruments. Prior to Acterna he was the Vice President, Human Resources (HR) and Organizational Development (Americas) with the Wilhelmsen Group, a major ocean transportation and logistics provider. Bill's other corporate leadership assignments include HR Director for Machining Technologies, Inc. and Quality Support and Training Manager for the Alaska Railroad. Additionally, he published "Driving High Performance through Excellence in Human Resources" in the Aspatore Books HR Leadership and Development series.
Bill and his wife Paula live in Annapolis, Maryland. They have four children and ten grandchildren. His interests include golf, gardening, shooting and reading.
