Program Details

Each day starts in ZooTampa's Conservation Center with presentations and discussions on practical leadership concepts proven in military and corporate settings. Assignments from the night before will also be reviewed.

During our “Florida Wild Bear and Panther Chat” you will learn first-hand the power of understanding the instinctive needs of apex predators and keystone species — or 'animal leaders.' You'll gather a true sense of the value of the human element in the success of any team while observing ZooTampa at Lowry Parks conservation efforts.

While developing a written Personal Leadership Philosophy, we'll see how ZooTampa at Lowry Park provides direction and purpose via a "Partners in Preservation" full zoo tour. Each of the many facets of ZooTampa connect directly to a unified vision.

Finally and most importantly, participants will gather to share observations and insights. You'll begin to formulate how you will put these concepts into practice and build your personal action plan to improve your leadership skills and capabilities; ultimately contributing to your organization's success.

During our second day, we'll learn how ZooTampa genuinely collaborates, coexisting with wildlife concepts and integrating these ideas with zoo efforts in a unique "Living and Working Together Safari Wildlife VIP Tour”. Later in the afternoon, the "Macaw Flyover" will highlight the importance of setting expectations and how 'closing the loop,' allows breakthrough team performance.

On day three, a "Knowledge, Priorities, Action Under Duress" VIP tour will showcase little-known zoo High-Payoff Activities and reveal numerous important areas that are vital to the veterinary and animal nutrition centers. Finally, the "Rhino Feeding Encounter" will bring together how ZooTampa shares common purpose within the Species Survival Plan framework connecting other zoos and wildlife counterpart organizations and preventing endangered animal extinction.

Prior to completion of the course, you will have a chance to tie-up loose ends and prepare for future coaching opportunities that will commence after the program and continue for three months.

Evenings will afford time to experience the charm of Tampa Bay. A variety of restaurants near ZooTampa provide excellent dining experiences, including the historic Ybor City area.
