In the Navy, Andy graduated from the Navy Nuclear Power program and qualified in submarines to earn his Gold Dolphins. His last active duty assignment was as an intelligence analyst at the Pentagon. He retired as a Commander from the Navy Reserve after many years in the Office of Naval Research. Prior to entering the Navy, Andy grew up working in a family owned electrical manufacturing business, where he was employed in manufacturing jobs as a winder, molder, and assembler.

Andy has a proven track record of monetizing technological innovation by providing customers with high return solutions. He has organized and operated very successful businesses as a CEO, President, CTO, and General Manager by using IoT-related technologies in industries as diverse as lighting control, uninterruptable power systems, and digital signage.

Andy was President & CEO of Piller Inc. and President of Masco Technical Innovations, and CTO of LSI Industries. He was the founder of Creative Energy Control LLC, which specialized in lighting control and lighting. He held GM and senior leadership positions at Square D (Schneider Electric) and Eaton.

Earlier in his career, he was an electrical power systems engineer for GE. In that role he designed electrical systems for buildings, and supervised construction and maintenance work.

Andy earned the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, an MBA at Marymount University, and a Masters in Electrical Engineering at George Mason University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer, BSA Scoutmaster, and active with the youth program at his church. In his spare time, he enjoys flying as a private pilot (instrument rated) and an amateur radio (AC8WQ) operator.
